Wow, what a view to wake up to. We didn’t notice it when we arrived, we were too excited to get straight out and explore. Down there in that lovely green park we would become Mr and Mrs Wright in 2 days time – It didn’t seem real…
Meanwhile, back to the errands – Time to get a marriage licence!
I’d been looking forward to going to the city clerks office, I imagined people lining up to get married and it didn’t disappoint. There were so many people there beaming with happiness collecting marriage licences, getting actual married there and then. There was an addictive buzz about the place.
We grabbed our ticket and took a seat – A103 was our number, we still have the ticket stored away safely
It wasn’t long before we were called over to sign our names and choose our new surname – Oooh the temptation to come up with something new and comical…
And that was it, within the hour we were legally registered to wed in the city of New York.
The helpfulness and peace of mind the Americans showed towards us through out planning our wedding was incredible. Everything just slotted in to place and nothing was too much trouble.
Well that was the errands done for the morning, time for some more sight seeing.
We headed out for a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, well around half way before heading back for a picnic in a beautiful park. Annoyingly I can’t remember the name of it, there was a lovely little fountain and I’m sure I’ve seen it in a movie or two. I will always remember it though because it’s where I tried my very first Twinkie!
We took Isaac to Grand Central Station to show him the whispering arch. It’s a huge archway where you can stand in opposite corners and whisper secrets. Scott of course had to visit the Apple store whilst we were there.
Just around the corner from grand Central Station was the home of our photographers Dreamlife which was great timing for meeting Ivan and Eddie who would be our photographers for the big day.
The Chrysler building is one of my favourite in New York it’s beautiful, the walk to the photographers took us down a road with the perfect view all along.
Suddenly remembering we were on the hunt for sparklers, we hit google and heading Upper East Side to find some… Whilst we never found what we were looking for, we did come across some superb pizza and a Sprinkles Cupcake ATM – YES NYC!!!
If you’re ever in New York – This is the address you need… 780 Lexington Avenue
That evening we got back together with some of the family and ate in Ellens Stardust Diner which can be found on 1650 Broadway. The food in here is great and the entertainment ‘musical’ The staff are constantly singing and dancing around as they work, performing on table tops and getting everyone involved. It was a lovely way to spend the evening with everyone.
And that was day 2 in New York city! Jet Lagged like crazy but loving every minute of it.
